How buying works
Repaired in our yard, ready to drive
- Choose your car. Come and see it in the yard, or ring Jag about it.
- We repair it. Clive, Percy and Tony carry out the repair. The price on each car already includes that work.
- Drive it away. Collect it ready for the road.
Every car is a written-off insurance category car. We tell you the category, what the damage was and what was repaired before you buy.
Questions
Things people ask us
What do Cat S and Cat N mean?
They are insurance write-off categories. Cat S means the car had structural damage, such as to the chassis or frame. Cat N means the damage was not structural, for example cosmetic or electrical. Both can go back on the road once repaired. The category stays on the car's record, so we state it on every car.
Will you tell me what was damaged?
Yes. Before you buy, we tell you the category, what the damage was and what we repaired. Ask Jag or the office about any car.
Who does the repairs?
Our own mechanics, Clive, Percy and Tony, repair the cars in our yard on Portway Road. The price on each car is the price fully repaired.
Can I insure a Cat S or Cat N car?
Most insurers will cover them. Tell your insurer the category when you ask for a quote, as it can affect the price.
Can I come and see a car?
Yes, come by Monday to Saturday, 9.30am to 5.45pm. Ring ahead if you're coming for a particular car so we can have it ready.
Do you deliver?
Delivery is available at extra cost. Ask us for a price.

Jag founded Portway in 1980
Jag has been in the motor trade for 50 years. He set up Portway Cars on Portway Road in Rowley Regis and has bought, repaired and sold cars, vans and light commercials from the same yard ever since.
He works with a team of long-serving mechanics, Clive, Percy and Tony, who carry out the repairs in the yard. Between them they have over 100 years of experience as mechanics. For the specialist jobs, and to source parts and materials, we draw on a network of trusted specialists across the region that we've worked with for years.
The business is built on fair prices and honest work, which is why so many customers come back for their next car.
